
Pumpkins and costumed trick-or-treaters won’t be the only orange on the roadways this Halloween, as road projects continue across the region.
The U.S. Route 65 bridge over Big Creek, southwest of Tina, will be narrowed to one lane Tuesday, Oct. 29 for a two-day maintenance project. Traffic signals will direct traffic over the bridge. Also in Carroll County, Route B between County Roads 318 and 326 remains closed Tuesday for bridge maintenance.
Flagging operations continue on Route 23 in Johnson County for pavement repairs. Tuesday morning from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., crews will reduce the roadway to one lane between Northeast 175th and Northeast 400th Roads. Wednesday, crews will move north to work on the stretch between Northeast 400th and Northeast 625th, then proceed to the stretch from Northeast 625th Road to Route E on Thursday. Crews are also repairing the shoulder on Route 58 from Holden east to U.S. Route 50 on Tuesday through Friday, with flag crews also present between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Flagging operations also continue along Route 41 in Saline County, south from the split with Route 240 to Arrow Rock. Pavement repairs continue Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will then move to Route 240 between Routes 41 and 65 for repairs Wednesday and Thursday. Pavement repairs are also scheduled Friday on Route J between Interstate 70 and Route AE, also from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Culvert replacements are underway this week on Route 5 through Howard County, from Route V in northern Glasgow to Valley View Drive. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. Crews have also begun a resurfacing project along Routes A and AA outside Higbee. In Cooper County, roadside work is underway along Route 179 throughout the week.
