The St Louis Blues overcame a one-goal deficit early in the second period, scoring the next three goals to defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Enterprise Center in St Louis.

After the Lightning’s Nick Perbix opened the scoring with a backhand shot, the Blues’ Oskar Sundquist netted his first goal of the year just shy of eight minutes into the middle frame. With 90 seconds remaining in the period, Alexey Toropchenko put the Blues ahead with a wrist shot. Jordan Kyrou provided the game-winner halfway through the third frame. Victor Hedman pulled one back for Tampa Bay, but the Blues were able to keep the Lightning out of the net the rest of the game.

The Blues also dealt with a potentially serious injury late in the first period, when forward Dylan Holloway was taken to the hospital after he was hit in the neck by a shot that deflected off a stick. Holloway made his way to the bench before receiving medical attention. The last 71 seconds of the period was tacked onto the start of the second.

Jordan Binnington recorded 21 saves for his 149th victory, surpassing Jake Allen for second on the list of victories all-time Blues goalkeepers. He’s now two shy of the record set by Mike Liut.

The Blues now sit on 14 points, fourth in the Central Division. The home stand continues Thursday night when the Utah Hockey Club make their first-ever trip to St Louis.
