Jerry Robert Myrick, 81, of Higginsville, MO, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on November 10, 2024. With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of a loving, caring, dedicated, humorous man who will be greatly missed. Born July 8, 1943 in Trenton, MO, he was the son of the late Earl T. and Ferne (Davis) Myrick. Jerry grew up in Meadville, Missouri, and graduated from high school in Belton, Missouri, in 1961. He was destined to be a successful businessman. From an early age, he possessed a tremendous work ethic and a desire to succeed in life.

He was the proud father of three children: Michael Dean, Jeffrey Lynn, and Teresa Dawn. Wanting to raise his family in a small-town, country environment much like his own childhood, Jerry and his family moved to Corder, MO, from Independence, MO, in the early 1970s. He even opened a popular BBQ restaurant in Corder called the “Branding Iron.” Jerry enjoyed a successful sales career, beginning with Johnson’s Wax. In 1977, he established Myrick Insurance Agency, later known as J.R. Myrick and Associates, which he operated until his passing. While leading his agency, due to elite production, he received numerous awards, lavish trips, and nationwide recognition. He enjoyed traveling all over the country, as well as a few trips abroad. Jerry also became an avid golfer and, in 1987, made two holes-in-one in a single day at the Higginsville Country Club.

On February 25, 1995, he married Cynthia Fiene, and together they built their dream home, a beautiful rustic log cabin on acreage south of Higginsville. At the farm, he found joy in their horses, his tractor, and being surrounded by timber and wildlife. Sometimes, he took joy in just reading a good book and taking a nap. He cherished weekends spent with his kids and grandkids, riding ATVs and working in the woods, cutting and splitting firewood. He dedicated time to help coach his kids and grandkids sports or to simply watch them play. Jerry and Cynthia formed holiday traditions that the whole family has celebrated for many years, leaving a legacy of togetherness and cherished memories.

Jerry’s great sense of humor, magnetic personality, and genuine love left an indelible mark on everyone’s heart. Throughout his life, family remained his greatest source of joy. Being known to all his grandchildren as “Pal” was an honor he treasured, a commitment to being the best pal any grandkid could ever ask for. His quick wit and laughter brought light to anyone in his presence, giving us all countless memories to share. May we honor him by continuing to cherish time with our loved ones, finding joy in the outdoors, and always finding something to laugh about.  His presence will forever be missed, but his spirit will forever dwell within us all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Gene and Wendell), one sister (Earlene), and son Michael. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia, of the home; son Jeff (Tina) of Higginsville; daughter Teresa (Sean) Egelston of Grain Valley; grandchildren: Ben Myrick of Higginsville, Bradley (Allie) Myrick of Bryan, TX, Amanda (Geoff) Fisher of Higginsville, Nick Harms (Katie) of Oak Grove, and Dalton Egelston (Anna) of Blue Springs; great-grandchildren: Owen Myrick, Violet Myrick, Silas Fisher, Norah Fisher, and Ryker Harms; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
