Jordan Binnington recorded 35 saves, but was outplayed by Matt Duchene halfway through overtime as the St Louis Blues fell to the Dallas Stars 2-1 on Saturday, Dec. 14 at American Airlines Arena in Dallas.

The Blues were outshot 37-16, but did record the first goal of the game nine minutes into the first, when Jordan Kyrou claimed a rebound and sunk his wrist shot into the net. The Stars’ Jason Robertson claimed the equalizer early in the second period on the power play. The Stars recorded all three attempts on goal as the Blues’ opportunities were limited, hampered in part by Dallas winning 62 percent of face-offs.

The Blues add a point from the overtime loss and are sixth in the Central Division on 31 points. The Canucks are still four points ahead for the second wild card spot with two games in hand. It’s right back home Sunday evening, as the Blues face the New York Rangers; puck drop is at 5 p.m.

Ahead of Saturday night’s game, the Blues announced a trade with the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman Cam Fowler. Fowler suited up Saturday night and arrived along with a fourth-round pick in the 2027 draft, in exchange for a minor-league defenseman and a second-round pick. Fowler had spent the entirety of his 15-year NHL career with the Ducks, making the second-most appearances in franchise history with 991. He also has 96 goals and 361 assists.
