The City of Marshall picked up ten inches of snow over the weekend, but business is coming back to normal in the city following a near-seamless response to the wintry weather.
Elected officials and department leaders commended the city’s coordinated response to the blizzard, which saw no power outages reported by Marshall Municipal Utilities and only two vehicles towed by Marshall Police during the snow emergency. Mayor Vince Lutterbie echoed the praise after Tuesday night’s city council meeting.
Lutterbie says the snow emergency was declared over as of 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.
During Tuesday’s brief meeting, the council approved a resolution executing a contract with Engineering Surveys and Services to design and construct improvements to the intersection of College and Miami, at a cost not to exceed $56,000.
Also Tuesday night, the Marshall City Council approved the second reading of an ordinance allowing the City Counselor to also serve as City Attorney, and provided a 5-1 vote for the first reading of the ordinance renewing the city’s agreement with the Marshall Saline Development Corporation.
