State leaders elected in November will be sworn in at noon Monday, Jan. 13, including Missouri’s new Secretary of State. With Denny Hoskins assuming the role, a new office of election integrity will set up shop, led by former Pettis County Clerk Nick La Strada.
La Strada stepped down from his previous office Friday, ending 14 years as Pettis County’s election authority. He tells KMMO News he was proud to work with a solid team to run the county’s elections in an efficient manner.
La Strada’s departure from the courthouse annex in Sedalia means new governor Mike Kehoe will have another county clerk to appoint during his first months in office. La Strada says one task he’ll take on is helping bring new county clerks up to speed on election laws and serving as a resource to them.
La Strada adds that he looks forward to helping Secretary Hoskins and current elections director Chrissy Peters in making Missouri’s elections more secure.
La Strada says two proposals in the Missouri General Assembly, Senate Bills 62 and 116, address many of the priorities and objectives sought by Secretary Hoskins.
