The Carrollton R-VII Board of Education approved the purchase of equipment to help ensure students are making the trip to and from school.

At their meeting Tuesday, Jan. 14, the board agreed to purchase a system that will track student usage of the district’s buses. Supt. Dr Tinna Croy says software previously in use by the district only provided routing services. She adds that the new system will help safeguard student safety.

Croy says the district will roll out the system during summer school before all students begin using it next school year.

Also Tuesday night, the Carrollton school board approved an increase to their minimum wage in line with the recently passed Proposition A, and received the annual special services report. Croy announced that two candidates filed for two openings on the school board, which will result in the race not appearing on Carrollton’s ballot this April.

The board also set interview times for six firms who submitted bids to help select and design the district’s facility improvements for a potential bond measure in 2026. Those interviews will take place Feb. 6 and 7, ahead of the next school board meeting set for Feb. 11.
