A Missouri Valley College men’s basketball student-athlete has earned a weekly award from the Heart of America Athletic Conference after leading the Vikings to two wins last week.
Keenan Jones has been named the Heart Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in Valley’s road wins over William Penn and Mount Mercy.
Jones scored a season-high 27 points, to go with four assists, in an 87-82 win over William Penn. Jones then followed it up with a career-high 37 points, shooting over 59-percent from the field, to go with six rebounds in an 82-73 win at Mount Mercy on Saturday.
The 37 points scored by Jones in the win over Mount Mercy was the most in a single-game for the program since December 2022. Jones also tied a program-record for single-game made three-point shots, finishing with nine. He is tied with Jace Lance and Kobe Achane for the most three-pointers in a single game.
Jones becomes the second member of the Viking men’s basketball team to earn a weekly award from the Heart this season. Cawhan Smith was the defensive award winner back on November 25, 2024.
The men’s basketball team currently sits at 8-12 overall and 7-9 in the Heart. Up next is a home conference doubleheader against Central Methodist, Wednesday evening inside the Burns Athletic Complex. Women’s game starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
