Missouri Valley men’s basketball player Keenan Jones’ performance last week at two road games in Iowa has gained national attention, as the senior earned NAIA Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Jones scored a season-high 27 against William Penn in Oskaloosa to lead the Vikings to a 87-82 win last Wednesday, then surpassed that with a career-high 37 points in Mo Valley’s 82-73 victory over Mount Mercy on Saturday in Cedar Rapids. His 37 points were the most scored by a Viking in a single game in over two seasons, while his nine three-point baskets in the contest made him the third Viking to achieve the feat, tying Jace Lance in 2022 and Kobe Achane in 1995.
Jones becomes the second Viking basketball player to earn a National player of the week honor from the NAIA. He’ll lead the Vikings into their Winter Social game against Central Methodist on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The doubleheader will begin with the women’s contest at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game around 7:30 p.m.
