Animal welfare issues in Carrollton are now under the auspices of the town’s public safety board.
The town council voted Monday, Feb. 3 to dissolve the animal control board and bring their matters under the public safety board, which reviews the police and fire departments. Mayor Susan Bliss says the council agreed that the animal board had served its purpose.
Bliss says the city’s animal control officer is already part of the police department. She adds that the town may appoint two future members to the board with an emphasis on animal welfare. Also Monday night, the town council amended the duties of the police chief to include animal control.
The council also approved a bid from Apple Roofing to repair the roof at City Hall. Bliss says Apple’s bid was the lower of two offers received.
The Carrollton Town Council also renewed their agreement with the Carroll County Clerk’s Office to allow use of the Rupe Community Center for use as a voting precinct. The council next meets Wednesday, Feb. 19.
