The Town of Carrollton is adjusting when the winners of each April’s municipal election take office.
Mayor Susan Bliss explains that city ordinance required elected officials to take their oaths of office in the middle of a weekend.
Bliss says complaints about the date usually surface during the ceremony, only for the town council to not act on them. She adds that with the election two months away, the time was right to make a change.
The Carrollton town council approved the change during their meeting last week. Also last week, the council adopted a policy setting a time limit of five minutes for a citizen to present public comment during the meeting.
