A Holden woman died after her vehicle ran off a state highway and landed in a creek south of Warrensburg on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash just after 1 p.m. on Route JJ, about a half-mile west of Route 13 in Johnson County. According to the patrol’s report, the 72-year-old driver was heading east when she went off the right side of the roadway and overcorrected. The car returned to the roadway, only to then go off the left side and strike an embankment, before coming to rest partially submerged in a creek. The driver was taken to a Kansas City area hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

This is the seventh fatal crash and ninth traffic fatality reported in the Patrol’s Troop A region for 2025.
