Resident concerns about potential detours around the Nitrogen Avenue bridge have prompted the Missouri Department of Transportation to change their plans.

That’s according to Saline County Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner, who provided an update at last week’s regular session.

Fenner said attempts to secure a temporary outer road were unsuccessful, which led to a new solution after discussions with MoDOT.

The project to replace the Nitrogen Avenue overpass is expected to begin later this year, after crews complete construction of the new overpass for Lemon Trail.
