The Odessa Board of Aldermen held a discussion over the city’s outdoor burning ordinances during a recent meeting.

City Administrator Shawna Davis says the discussion regarding changes to the ordinances were caused by complaints from city residents.

The board will review and potentially vote on changes to the ordinance at a future meeting.

Aldermen also approved purchases for the Odessa Police Department. The board started by approving a five-year contract for program pricing to purchase new body cameras, software, and online storage with Axon Enterprises, Inc. This purchase is part of the Law Enforcement Camera Program. Davis notes this contract was included in the 2025-2026 Capital Improvement Plan.

The board then voted to renew a grant and lease agreement for the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s LiveScan electronic fingerprint station.

The Odessa Board of Aldermen’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 14.
