The Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education has approved the district’s calendar for the next school year.
At Monday night’s board meeting, the board adopted the first of three options for the 2025-26 calendar, which has the first day of classes on Aug. 21, and the last day of school on May 20, 2026. Six snow days are built into the calendar, designated in order of priority as Jan. 16 and Feb. 13, then May 21, 22, 26, and 27. Supt. Dr Todd Fraley informed the board that two-thirds of parents surveyed had expressed a degree of interest in keeping parent teacher conferences during the spring semester, which will take place Feb. 25 and 26. The new calendar designates 164 school days, totaling 1093 student hours.
Also Monday night, the board agreed to a $500 increase in the base annual salary for certified staff, and an additional 20 cents per hour for classified staff, while adding a longevity step to the salary schedule. The district estimates the salary and benefits increase to cost about $1.7 million. The board also agreed to an agreement with CGI to produce promotional videos about Sedalia Schools, totaling $13,000, and approved two change orders for renovations to Smith-Cotton Junior High School totaling $103,491.78. MTS Contracting won the bid to complete masonry tuckpointing along the north roofwall of Washington Elementary School, submitting a bid of $15,525 that the board accepted.
