Spring cleaning efforts will be easier for Sedalia residents thanks to the city’s Clean Sweep program taking place over the next few months.

This year’s program began Monday, March 31, and will continue through the week of June 30. The program allows residents to dispose of unwanted waste and items to help keep their properties clean and beautify the city. The different items that can be collected include yard waste, construction and demolition waste, unwanted junk, and appliances. Interim City Administrator Matthew Wirt says the service is offered to residents at no extra charge. He notes the program can also help eliminate illegal dumping.

The city has been divided up into 12 sections, and crews will cover one of those sections every week until the end of June. City crews pick up bulky items on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each scheduled week. To assist city crews, residents should place items away from trees and overhead lines to help make collection easier. Residents are asked to place materials into four separate piles, one for each of the type of items collected. Each residence is allowed to place up to 4-cubic yards of bulky waste and 4-cubic yards of yard waste/tree trimmings at the curb for collection during the Clean Sweep Event.
