Thursday morning’s public test of Saline County’s election tabulation equipment featured a visitor from a neighboring county.
Observing the process of feeding sample ballots into the box and verifying its totals with an earlier hand count was Pettis County’s new clerk, Megan Page. She says spending the morning in Marshall, and visiting with other county clerks around the region, is helping her prepare for Tuesday’s general municipal election.
Page was named to the post in February by Governor Mike Kehoe, following the departure of Nick La Strada for a position in the Missouri Secretary of State’s office. Page says she has a knowledgeable staff ready to run another successful election.
Page estimates turnout for Tuesday’s election in Pettis County could total 18 to 20 percent. She anticipates greater interest because all four Sedalia City Council wards are contested, as are several school boards, and the county’s road and bridge sales tax is up for renewal.
