This year’s Arbor Day celebration in Sedalia was one for the dogs.

The city’s tree board joined Mayor Andrew Dawson at the Sedalia Animal Shelter on Friday, April 4, for the mayor’s annual Arbor Day proclamation, and to celebrate the recent planting of trees along a pathway. Dawson says the trees will provide shade as volunteers walk dogs awaiting adoption at the shelter.

The Arbor Day proclamation, along with the tree board and continued funding for tree planting and maintenance, allows Sedalia to retain their Tree City USA designation for another year.
