Slater Schools Supt. Dr Terry Lorenz is continuing to lead the appeal for community support for funding the ongoing installation of a new gym floor.

Lorenz provided an update on the project, which began shortly after the end of the basketball season.

The new floor will be named in honor of Joe Kleine and Roscoe White, the first two honorees in the Slater Legends Alumni Hall of Honor. Kleine played 15 years in the NBA, while White was an NJCAA All-American in 1961 at Moberly Junior College (now MACC).

Lorenz says the district is hoping to raise $400,000 to complete the project. He encourages Slater supporters and community members who wish to contribute to contact him at the Slater Schools central office.
