The City of Brunswick has awarded its mowing bid for the next year.

At their meeting Tuesday, April 15, the City Council approved the bid from Troy Zelstra to mow the city park, ball field, Masonic Cemetery, and swimming pool. City clerk Sarah Clubine tells KMMO News that Zelstra’s bid totaled $600 per mowing. The council also approved the hire of David Desmond as Brunswick’s new city cop. Desmond will work part-time during a 60-day probationary period, when he’ll be subject to review by the council.

During Tuesday’s meeting, Wendell Turner was sworn in for another term on the council, while Nicole Schuchmann took her oath of office. She succeeds Tim Rice on the council. The council also reappointed Clubine to the city clerk position, with Sydney Rice remaining assistant city clerk following her election last week.

Earlier this month, the Brunswick City Council also accepted both bids for engineering services from Great River Engineering. The firm will handle the design work for several culvert replacements around the city as well as resurfacing several stretches of Adams Street.

Brunswick’s city council next meets May 20.
