A two-vehicle collision on U.S. Route 36 in the western part of Brookfield sent two people to an area hospital Thursday, April 17.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a car driven by an 18-year-old woman from Chillicothe drove south on Huron Drive across U.S. Route 36. Troopers say that at around 5:20 p.m., she failed to yield to an eastbound Jeep driven by an 81-year-old man from Laclede, striking the vehicle. The Jeep’s driver had minor injuries, while a 16-year-old passenger in the southbound car sustained moderate injury. The two were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver from Chillicothe had no reported injuries. Troopers add that all three people were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
