The Kansas City Royals squandered an early lead, and dropped its fifth straight game in a 7-3 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Friday, April 18.

The Royals took the early lead after an RBI double from Vinnie Pasquantino in the first inning. Detroit would tie the game with an RBI single from Tomas Nido.

Detroit’s bats would only continue to get hotter as the game progressed, with the Tigers scoring a run in the fourth, three more in the fifth, and adding two more in the seventh to take a commanding six-run lead.

Kansas City did make a comeback effort in the ninth by scoring a pair of runs, but Tommy Kahnle stranded the bases loaded to end the game.

Royals starter Cole Ragans only lasted four innings, giving up five runs on six hits and three walks.
