The Pettis County R-5 Board of Education approved a motion to change the district’s health insurance consortium during its meeting on Monday, April 14.

Superintendent Amy Fagg says the board decided to leave its current consortium to join the Ozarks Schools Benefits Association (OSBA). Faggs says OSBA offers around a 7.5 percent decrease in the rates per employee per month.

The board also approved cooperative athletic agreements with Otterville, Blackwater, La Monte, and Dresden for various Junior High and High School athletics. Fagg wanted to note that while the board gave approval to enter into these cooperative agreements, the other districts involved still need to give their approval before they take effect.

In other news, the two members were welcomed to the board after securing their seats in the April Municipal Election. Nathan Killion and Nick Ramey are filling the positions vacated by Steven Townsend and Eric Cornine, who both decided not to run for re-election.
