Doris Ann (Hemeyer) Butcher, 87, of Marshall, MO, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, after a four-year battle with lymphoma.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with Dr. Michael Kateman officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born July 29, 1937, in rural Marshall, Doris was the daughter of the late Otto Henry Hemeyer and Mary Tillie (Grannert) Hemeyer. On April 19, 1958, she married George Robert Butcher. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage until George’s death on March 23, 2023. She and George were married in the Arrow Rock Federated Church, where she was a member from 1953 until her death.

Following graduation from Marshall High School in 1955, Doris worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell from August 1955 to October 1958.  From 1966 to 1973, Doris worked at JC Penney as an office cashier. In 1973 she was hired to work for Marshall Municipal Utilities as a billing associate, where she retired after 30 years of employment.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Storey (Bruce) of Eldridge, IA; son, Robert Butcher (Carmen) of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Adam Butcher, Melissa Storey, and Claire Butcher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister who died in infancy.
