One of the top items on the to-do list for Marshall’s next mayor will be the city’s infrastructure needs, and how to pay for them.
The Marshall City Council adopted the city’s street improvement list for the year last month, with over $700,000 worth of needs identified. City administrator JD Kehrman says in an effort to control rising costs, some of the projects are maintenance efforts intended to extend the life of the current surface.
Kehrman notes that the projects are drawing on available city reserves, and suggests an alternate funding source may be needed in the near future.
The Marshall City Council will consider bids for cold milling, two-inch asphalt overlay, and emulsified asphalt slurry seal during their meeting Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.
