
The first high school spring sports district tournaments begin Monday, May 5, as team and individual bracket play begin for boys tennis.
Odessa will host the Class One, District Four tournament, where Lafayette County have the top seed and will face Knob Noster to start the post season. Marshall have the four seed and will challenge Boonville. The other half of the bracket features two-seed Moberly battling Clinton, while the hosts Odessa have the three seed and await Carrollton.
Elsewhere, Kirksville are traveling west to St Joseph for the District Eight tournament, where they’ll have the two seed and battle Trenton in the first round. Chillicothe have the six-seed in this district and have conference foes Savannah in the first round. Mexico is hosting the District Three tournament and will have the four seed, while NCMC foes Fulton will have the three seed. Richmond will wait until Tuesday to begin play at the District Seven tournament in Independence. They’ll have the seven seed and go up against St Michael the Archangel.
Smith-Cotton begin play in the Class Three, District Four tournament as the five-seed. They face the hosts Waynesville Monday afternoon, with the winner facing top-seeded Rock Bridge on Tuesday. Warrensburg have the top seed in the Class Two, District Seven tournament they’re hosting. They’ll begin play Tuesday when they go up against either Belton or Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School of Joplin. Also in Class Two, Hannibal have the five seed in District Five and will challenge Missouri Military Academy; the winner will get top-seeded Jefferson City.
