A Tina man who recently joined the Macon County Sheriff’s Department is now behind bars, accused of domestic assault in that county.

A probable cause statement from the Missouri State Highway Patrol accuses 26-year-old Brody C Lewis of domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon. According to the statement, a Macon woman identified as Lewis’ girlfriend reported Tuesday, May 6 to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office and Highway Patrol that Lewis had recently assaulted her. During her interview with troopers, the reported victim detailed multiple incidents since February where she accused Lewis of assaulting her and, on at least one occasion, pointing a firearm at her. Troopers noted in their statement that she had several visible bruises when she appeared for their interview.

Lewis was arrested Wednesday, May 7 and is now facing three charges of domestic assault and one charge of unlawful use of a weapon. He’s being held without bond in the Randolph County Jail. A judge from Lewis County has been assigned to the case.

A post on the Macon County Sheriff’s Facebook page from last month announced that Lewis had recently joined their force after working for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department. The Missouri Department of Public Safety has opened a separate investigation to determine the fate of Lewis’ peace officer certification.
