The Kansas City Royals made Bobby Witt Jr’s two-run home run stand, as they posted their fifth straight win with a 2-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, May 7 at Kauffman Stadium.

Witt’s home run came with two outs in the fifth inning, when he launched a one-ball pitch over the left field fence to round the bases and also bring Luke Maile home. The White Sox attempted to close the gap in the ninth, when Luis Robert Jr delivered a single to left field that scored Miguel Vargas. Closer Carlos Estévez allowed another single but settled down, getting a forceout and two strikeouts to claim his 11th save of the season.

Michael Wacha kept Chicago off the board in his seven innings of work, allowing just three hits and a walk while punching out five. That brings his career total to over 1500 innings, making him one of 20 active pitchers to achieve the feat.

The Royals go for the sweep of the White Sox on Thursday afternoon. Pregame coverage begins at 12:30, with first pitch at 1:10 p.m., on KMMO AM 1300. Kris Bubic will get the start for the Royals.
