A Sedalia man was scheduled for arraignment Friday, May 16 after his arrest on five felony charges including assault, following a shots-fired incident in a Sedalia neighborhood over the weekend.

According to a probable cause statement, 30-year-old Jubyris Jordan is accused of shooting at a vehicle May 10th after he got into an argument with its driver. Sedalia police say that the argument began at an apartment where he was arguing with its residents and the father of one of the residents. The man began to drive off in a pickup, only for Jordan to allegedly grab a pole and strike the truck’s back driver-side door, causing damage.

The statement goes on to accuse Jordan of pursuing the truck on West Broadway, leading the truck’s driver to turn onto a residential street in an attempt to lose Jordan. A short time later, Jordan allegedly fired three shots at the truck, missing the vehicle but instead hitting a house near the intersection of 10th and Carr. Police say one bullet entered the house, passed through a wall and then lodged on a bookshelf, while the other hit the house’s exterior. No injuries were reported in the house, where a juvenile was among the residents.

Sedalia police arrested Jordan on Wednesday night at his apartment. He’s now charged with first degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon from a moving vehicle, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He’s also facing misdemeanor charges of property damage and unlawful discharge of a firearm under Blair’s Law. He’s in the Pettis County Jail, held without bond.
