The Saline County Sheriff’s Department has announced the death of an inmate following an apparent medical episode.

According to a release from Sheriff Daniel Kirchoff, an unnamed inmate was being transferred to a medical ward when they became unresponsive. Saline County Ambulance responded, then took the inmate to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead. Marshall Police and the Saline County Coroner’s Office are assisting in the investigation. Kirchoff says his office will release more information as the investigation continues.
