Emergency crews responded to a train derailment Sunday, June 1 in Pettis County.

The derailment occurred after 4 p.m. on the Union Pacific tracks one mile west of Dresden, with at least three railcars on its side and the locomotive stopped on the tracks as it was heading east. The Pettis County Sheriff’s Department closed crossings in Dresden and La Monte, and reduced traffic along westbound U.S. Route 50 to one lane as crews responded to the scene. No injuries have been reported at this time.

Amtrak’s Missouri River Runner trains 311 and 318, with stops in Sedalia and Warrensburg, will shift to a bus service in both directions the morning of Monday, June 2, 2025.
