Evergy customers across Western Missouri could see a change in their electricity rates later this year if their request to adjust their Demand Side Investment Mechanism (DSIM) rate is approved by the Missouri Public Service Commission.
In their filing this week with the PSC, Evergy says that they anticipate needing to reduce the mechanism rate for all their customers in their Missouri West division, as well as their residential and most general service customers in their Missouri Metro division. If approved by the PSC, residential customers in the Missouri Metro division, which covers most of Kansas City and its Missouri suburbs, along with Evergy’s customers in Carroll, Chariton, Saline, northwestern Howard and northeastern and central Lafayette counties, could see their bills decrease by $0.91 per 1000 kilowatt hours used beginning in August. Missouri West residential customers, including those in Benton, Henry, Johnson, Pettis, Ray, and western and southern Lafayette counties, could see their bills decrease by $0.33 per 1000 kilowatt hours used, also beginning in August.
The Public Service Commission asks for interested parties seeking to intervene and participate in both cases to file their applications no later than June 24 with the PSC in Jefferson City. Individual citizens may lodge comments on both cases through either the PSC or the Office of Public Counsel.
