
Sonny Gray tossed another quality start, helping the St. Louis Cardinals shutout the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 on Friday, June 7.
Gray scattered eight hits over 6.1 innings of work, striking out five in the winning effort. Gray got his first run support in the second inning with a two-run blast off the bat of Pedro Pages.
Brendan Donovan added a two-run single in the fifth, making it 4-0. Willson Contreras drilled a solo homer in the eighth to complete the scoring.
The Cardinals improve to 35-28, sitting four games back of the Cubs in the NL Central. St. Louis will continue its series with LA today. First pitch begins at 1:15 p.m.
