The Moberly City Council authorized a second supplemental agreement with the McClure Engineering Company for design changes with the Fennel Community Center Grant Project during its meeting Monday, June 16.

Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey says this agreement addresses changes in the city’s current contract with McClure as the city works to make the building more accessible.

McGarvey says the city is using the firm on an as-needed basis as modifications are needed to the construction plan. This council approved that agreement in the amount of $9,700.

The City Council also authorized the Moberly Fire Department to make an application through the Missouri Department of Public Safety for a Fire Prevention and Safety Grant. McGarvey says this grant would be used to help purchase a Fire Safety Trailer.

The trailer would have interactive displays to allow fire department personnel to demonstrate proper fire safety techniques. McGarvey notes the city would only have to match about five percent of the total grant award, if the fire department does receive it.

The council’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 30.
