The body of a Boonville woman has been recovered from the Missouri River, over two days after she failed to resurface when entering the water.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the body of the 33-year-old was located on the north bank of the river near Jefferson City on Wednesday, June 25 around 8:30 a.m. and identified by the Callaway County Coroner. The woman had been reported as missing in the river after she was spotted just upstream from Boonville around 12:45 a.m. Monday. Troopers say the woman entered the water on foot, but failed to resurface.

The search for the drowning victim involved the Highway Patrol’s aircraft division as well as Boonville Police Department, Jefferson City Fire Department, and sheriff’s deputies from Boone, Cole, and Cooper counties.  The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of accident victims in their reports, per a policy change implemented by the Patrol in November 2024.
