
The St. Louis Cardinals were shutout for the second straight game, falling to the Chicago Cubs 3-0 on Thursday, June 26.
The Cubs got on the board in the second after a solo homer from Michael Busch. Chicago added to the lead in the fourth after Ian Happ drew an RBI walk. The Cubs scored again in the eighth after Pete Crow-Armstrong took home on a pick-off at first.
Andre Pallante took the loss, giving up two runs over five innings. Shota Imanaga picked up the win in his return from the IL, tossing five scoreless innings.
The Cardinals had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth, but Daniel Palencia struck out the side to pick up the save.
St. Louis falls to 44-38, third in the NL Central and 4.5 games behind the Cubs for first. The Redbirds now travel to Cleveland for the start of an inter-league series with the Guardians. First pitch at Progressive Field begins at 6:10 p.m.
