
Saline County’s economic development efforts are receiving recognition from a national organization of its peers.
The National Association of Counties recently announced Saline County as one of its 146 honorees for the Community and Economic Development Achievement Award. Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden says the group is recognizing the county for its ongoing efforts to encourage development at the Marshall Junction.
Work is underway to build the Saline County Welcome Center, funded in part by a grant by the Economic Development Administration. The award from NACo also recognizes the implementation of the county’s sales tax for economic development projects, which Gooden says benefits Saline County communities of all sizes.
Saline County is one of two counties from Missouri recognized for their economic development efforts this year, joined by Boone County.
The Saline County Commission will meet Wednesday, July 2 at 9 a.m. for their regular session, where commissioners plan to open bids submitted for the county’s financial services.
