Randy Arozarena once again dealt a pair of blows to the Kansas City Royals, as the left fielder belted his fourth home run of the series and added a sacrifice fly RBI to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 3-2 win Wednesday, July 2.

Arozarena delivered his 12th home run of the year to lead off the sixth inning, putting Seattle on the board. The Mariners led off the seventh with a Ben Williamson double, then making him the go-ahead run with Julio Rodríguez’s RBI single. Arozarena’s sacrifice fly made it a 3-1 game. Both Royals RBIs came off the bat of Salvador Perez in the first and eighth innings.

Angel Zerpa took the loss, his first of the year, after being charged with both runs from the seventh. He recorded two outs and allowed one hit, while another runner reached on a fielders choice. Noah Cameron had a no-decision, going 4.2 innings and allowing four hits and a walk, while striking out five.

The Royals now sit 40-47, remaining 14 games behind Detroit in the AL Central and 5.5 games behind Seattle for the third wild card spot. The series concludes Thursday evening when Seth Lugo gets the start. Pregame is at 8:30 p.m., with first pitch at 9:10 p.m., on KMMO-FM 102.9.
