The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that eight died in traffic crashes throughout the 2025 Fourth of July holiday weekend.

MSHP’s counting period for the Independence Day holiday weekend ran from 6 p.m. Thursday, July 3, to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 6. Troopers responded to 246 crashes over the counting period, reporting eight fatalities and 115 injuries. The Patrol also reported nine boating crashes and four boating-related injuries.

These numbers are down from 2024, with MSHP reporting 14 fatalities and 560 injuries over the holiday.

The fatality statistics in this story could change if late deaths occur.
