The Concordia Board of Aldermen approved requests from the Concordia Lions Club and Concordia Mission Institute for upcoming events in the city during its meeting Monday, July 7.

City Administrator Dale Klussman says the request from the Lions Club was to set up its beer garden, Heidelberg Gardens, in Central Park from August 25 to September 7. Klussman notes this event will run along with the other festivities at the Concordia Fall Festival, which is scheduled for September 2-6.

The board also approved a request from the Concordia Mission Institute for a 5K run on Saturday, July 12.

The Board of Aldermen also administered the oath of office to James Schnittker, a new member of the Concordia Police Department.
