A Sedalia woman was injured in when her vehicle struck a culvert after running off a Johnson County roadway at 4:45 p.m.Wednesday, July 9.

A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old woman from Sedalia attempted to pass another vehicle while traveling eastbound along Johnson County Route Y. The Sedalia woman was forced off the roadway, where she struck a culvert and became airborne. The vehicle ended up catching fire due to the crash.

The Sedalia woman was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. Troopers report the driver was wearing her seat-belt at the time of the accident.
