A bridge replacement project in Chariton County has been delayed by one week due to contractor schedule changes.

The Northwest Bridge Bundle project to replace the Chariton County Route PP Middle Fork Little Chariton River Bridge, near Salisbury, has been delayed and is now scheduled to begin Monday, August 4. The bridge has been closed since June 17.

The Capital-Horner & Shifrin team was scheduled to begin the replacement project on July 28. The bridge is still anticipated to reopen in December 2025. During construction, motorists should continue to seek an alternate route around the closure.

The Middle Fork Little Chariton River Bridge was built in 1959 and had a traffic volume of approximately 426 vehicles per day.

The full list of bridges included in the project can be found on the Northwest Bridge Bundle web page. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
