Traffic on westbound was briefly stopped on Interstate-70 near Boonville Tuesday morning as the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Cooper County Sheriff’s Department arrested a subject with outstanding warrants.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 58-year-old Gerald Weddle fled from authorities while traveling along the highway. MSHP reportedly used a spike strip to stop the Weddle’s vehicle near Exit 98, temporarily stopping westbound traffic to secure his arrest at 11:56 a.m. Traffic returned to normal after several minutes.

Weddle was taken into custody and is being held in the Cooper County Jail. He has an outstanding felony warrant out of Perry County, Indiana for burglary in the first degree.
