
A Knob Noster teenager died, and four others were injured, after the SUV they were in went off a roadway north of Warrensburg on Wednesday, July 23.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 8:15 p.m. on NE 650 Road, east of NE 301 Road. According to the patrol’s report, the SUV began to slide off the gravel roadway as it was heading east, then ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch. A 17-year-old had not been wearing his seatbelt and was flown to a Kansas City area hospital, where he was pronounced dead a couple hours later. A 13-year-old boy was taken by ambulance to a Warrensburg hospital with moderate injuries. Three girls in the car, including the 17-year-old driver, were treated in Warrensburg for minor injuries.
The Highway Patrol notes that this is the 39th fatality crash investigated by Troop A this year, and 42nd fatality recorded in the troop’s 11-county area.
