
Both the Kansas City Royals and St Louis Cardinals are back in action Friday, Aug. 8 after an off day Thursday.
The Cardinals return to Busch Stadium for a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs. St Louis is currently 58-58, trailing the Mets by 5.5 games for the third wild card spot and 13 games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central. The Cubs have faded amid another hot streak by the Brewers, now trailing them in the division by four games. Michael McGreevy will get the start for the Cardinals, while the Cubs’ Matthew Boyd will seek his 12th win. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
The Royals continue their road trip with a visit to division foes Minnesota. The first game in the three-game series will see Seth Lugo take the mound, while the Twins send one of their few remaining lineup fixtures, Joe Ryan, who is seeking his 11th win of the year. The Royals sit at 57-58, four games behind the Yankees for the third wild card spot and 8.5 back of Detroit for the AL Central lead. First pitch from Target Field in Minneapolis is at 7:10 p.m., with pregame at 6:30 p.m. on KMMO-FM 102.9.
