Gooden says the $1.65 million project is funded by the economic development sales tax. Marshall Municipal Utilities will manage the plant upon its completion.
Also at Wednesday’s meeting, commissioners renewed the county’s conflict of interest ordinance and approved the hire of Mateo McBride by the sheriff’s office. However, a destruction request from the sheriff’s office was tabled. The commission took under advisement one bid for a road tractor, submitted by MHC Kenworth of Springfield for $165,303.
The commission will meet next Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 9 a.m. for Saline County’s annual tax rate hearing. County Clerk Brittni Burton also noted that the State Tax Commission has given the county the go-ahead to close their books after the final hearings before the board of equalization, which are scheduled for Aug. 25-27.
