The New York Yankees jumped out to an early lead, and held on for a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, August 15.

Andre Pallante gave up three runs in the first thanks to an RBI groundout from Aaron Judge and a two-run home run from Jazz Chisholm Jr. New York added another run in the fourth to make it 4-0.

Masyn Winn drove home the first Cardinal run with an RBI double in the sixth. Victor Scott II added another RBI double an inning later to cut the lead in half. The Cardinals scored their last run on a wild pitch.

Pallante took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks over five innings.

The Cardinals drop to 61-62, now 17 games back of Milwaukee in the NL Central. The Cardinals will look to even the series today. First pitch from Busch Stadium begins at 6:15 p.m.
