The National Weather Service has issued another heat advisory for this weekend.
The advisory will be in effect from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Heat index values up to 105 are expected. The advisory is in effect in the counties of Saline, Carroll, Chariton, Lafayette, Howard, Johnson, Pettis, and Cooper in the KMMO listening area.
Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Residents are reminded to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Any resident needing to beat the heat this weekend can consult the state Department of Health and Senior Services for its map of cooling centers in the area.
