The Green Ridge R-8 School District approved an updated policy allowing students enrolled in a home school to participate in the district’s MSHSAA activities.
Superintendent Jonathan Petersen says this policy will allow these students to participate in Green Ridge athletics and activities right away, as opposed to waiting until August 28.
The Board of Education also approved the district’s tax rate for the 2025-2026 school year, setting the total levy at $5.2017. The breakdown of this rate includes $4.5946 for the Incidental Levy, and $.6071 for the Debt Service Levy. Petersen described his experience setting the district’s levy and hopes to have a better understanding of the process for next year.
The first day of school began Wednesday for Green Ridge R-8. The board’s next meeting is Wednesday, September 17.
