Absentee voting has opened for residents in the Sweet Springs Special Road District eligible to vote in October’s special election, asking residents whether they wish to renew the district’s levy for the next four years.

Saline County Clerk Brittni Burton says residents who wish to vote prior to Sept. 23 will need to specify a reason when they come to her office on the north side of the Marshall square. They can also request a ballot by mail.

Burton notes that residents who plan to vote on election day, Oct. 7, will have to go to a different location than their normal polling place.

Residents in the Sweet Springs Special Road District are being asked to renew their tax levy of $0.3052 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. They will also have a seat to fill on the road district’s board, with Donald Vogelsmeier the only listed candidate.
